David Carpenter is Chief Executive of Hibernia College where he has overall responsibility for the general management and strategic development of the College. David is the recent past Chair of the HECA Board.

David has held a number of senior positions in the vocational certifications industry including the position of Chief Executive of the ECDL Foundation, which he held for almost a decade and during which time he oversaw the development and growth of the ECDL programme from inception to global status.

He has significant international business experience having previously worked with Swedtel and the World Bank on a variety of infrastructural, educational and capacity building programs in sub-Saharan Africa as well as having spent a number of years as COO of a major consortium of companies in the Middle East. He has also worked with KPMG and has previously held a number of senior finance and leadership positions in the IFSC.

Through his international development aid experience David has seen first-hand how access to education can drive transformational economic and social development in less developed societies, which has driven his passion for education and the development of innovative and accessible learning opportunities.

David is a business graduate (BBS) of Trinity College, Dublin and a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland (FCA) and served as Chair of HECA from January 2018 to May 2019.
